The Business Studies Department at Ballycastle High School aims to provide pupils with the opportunity to develop a range of key skills such as problem solving, communication and working with others.  The department focuses on ensuring that each pupil is fully prepared with the necessary knowledge and experience needed to take the subject further.  Examples of career paths chosen from studying Business Studies include: business accounting, business journalism, marketing, management and human resources.

CCEA GCSE Business Studies

 

 

 Unit 1: Business Start Up 1 hour 20 minutes exam (worth 35% of the overall GCSE qualification)

 Unit 2: Business Development 1 hour 40 minutes exam(worth 40% of the overall GCSE qualification) 

 

 ·         Finance Managing

 ·         People Business

 One controlled assessment task will also need to be  completed(worth 25% of the overall GCSE  qualification)

 

 In Year 11 pupils have the opportunity to go on an  industrial visit to Wrightbus, Ballymena.  The visit  shows how the production process works in a real life  business.
